KIRBY HALL

10:00 - 18:00

Thursday: Hatton’s Heritage

Kirby Hall was built in the most fashionable style in 1570. There were high hopes that Queen Elizabeth I herself might visit. Sadly, she never trod these paths but James I stayed at the Hall on more than one occasion. The tour will imagine Kirby Hall preparing for his visit in 1612. Visitors can hear about the Hatton family and their aspirations, the hard work in the kitchens preparing the feasts, the squabbles between the courtiers devising entertainment for the King and how events in the wider world impacted on the house.
